NSW Arya Samaj

POST

Ram Prasad Bismil

Pandit Ram Prasad Bismil was an Indian revolutionary who struggled vigorously against oppressive British Rule in India. In addition to being a freedom fighter, he was a patriotic poet who wrote in Hindi and Urdu. He was associated with Arya Samaj and was deeply inspired by Rishi Dayananda's Satyarth Prakash, the Light of Truth. He was one of the founding members of the revolutionary organisation called Hindustan Republican Association. He lived in the age of Bhagat Singh, Ashfaqulla Khan, Roshan Singh and Rajendra Nath Lahiri. They were all young men convicted for carrying out revolutionary activities aimed at freeing their country. They were sentenced to hang. Ramprasad Bismil died on December 19, 1927 when he was 30 years old. He sacrificed his life for us. Let's remember him.
